FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the difference between the affiliates?
The primary difference between the affiliates is the location in which the teams play. Worthington is based and will play in and around the Worthington area.

Did Worthington Crew Juniors merge with New Albany?
No. New Albany is the newest affiliate with the Columbus Crew. Our relationship with New Albany will be similar to our relationship with Phoenix Crew Juniors, Grand Rapids Crew Juniors and CUP Crew Juniors. This new affiliate will have little impact on Worthington teams or operations.

What is Crew Juniors West?
Crew Juniors West is all Crew Junior teams on the west side of Columbus. In 2011-2012 this will consist of Worthington U7-U19 teams and U10-U13 Crew Junior West Gold Teams.

Can I tryout for more than one affiliate?
No. You should register to tryout for one affiliate. If you wish to be considered for another affiliate, please make a note in the comments area during your registration. It is possible that a coach may recommend your player consider accepting a spot with another affiliate, if we feel this would be a better fit for your player. The coach would call the family to dicuss and see if you would consider this, if it is an option or possibility.

What should my player bring to tryouts?
Registration receipt with a wallet size photo stapled/attached.

Wear a light colored shirt
Soccer ball
Water bottle
Shin guards
Soccer cleats

Can my player play more than one sport and still play for Crew Juniors?
Yes. We encourage all players to enjoy other sports; however, please consider as players compete at higher levels, it becomes increasingly difficult for them to play multiple sports.

When is the season?
Exact dates will vary slightly by team.  For most teams, the fall season runs early August to mid October. Spring season runs from early March to late May.

Where do Crew Juniors Worthington teams practice?
We have fields throughout the Worthington area. During the season each team will have a primary practice location.

How often will we play?
We’ll play 3 to 4 days per week.  That includes practices and games.  Teams in the U7 - U9 age groups will play 3 days per week.

Winter training?
We have a winter training component included in our fees.  Each coach will determine the best schedule for his/her team, with most teams at (U9 and above) training indoors three to five times in February-March in preparation for the spring season.  There may also be additional supplemental winter training available to players.
